Imigongo



At the end of the 18th century the art form called imigongo was created, Imigongo is created by cow dung. It’s a traditional art form from Rwanda made by women. The colours that are most used in this art form is black, white and red. Spiral and geometric themes are the most popular ones for this art form. Orginally it was used as decorations inside the wall of huts. Imigongo paintings are created from calf dung applied to wooden plates, which forms the structure and relief of the paintings.
